Congrats Goes out to our varsity football team!

If you did not go to the Kofa/Yuma game you missed out on the most exciting and spirited game of the year. I knew it was going to be different than any other game because the boys rushed through that drawbridge ready for a fight.  They were so pumped up and their eagerness to  play was tangible.  Their passion, determination, and eagerness was palpable to us in the stands.  This was the first time where the coaches, players and crowd were on the same page! We were all linked by a common goal which was to show Yuma and the rest of the city why we are the Kings! Our victory over our arch enemy brought the pride back to our school.  I would like to recognize some players for their hard work and dedication to their sport.

When I asked Max if he was physically ready to play and win, he said ” Of course!” I remember telling him to go in there angry and knock some people around.  We were both laughing about my comment, but I’m glad he went in there and took care of business! Way to go Max!

Another student I talked to on Friday during school was Ricky.  I caught him at the water fountain on my way to the office.  I also had asked Ricky if he was ready to play and win.  Just like Max he said of course.  Then I told him my prediction for the game was going to be 14 to 7 with us being on top ( I was close!). He said he was going to get an interception. Even though it was his brother, David,  who accomplish that goal , he still played awesome!  Fantastic job boys! I knew you could do it!

Brett, it seems like yesterday when you were in my English class!  You are such a talented young man!  You played your hardest on Friday!  Your skills and control helped the tempo of the game.  Great defense!

Alex, you are still an awesome kicker even though you ruined my prediction by one point!:) Way to go kid!

As for the rest of the football boys: Lex, Brandon, Cy, Dustin and Jered you guys worked hard this year as well!  Fantastic job boys! I expect you to be playing a lot next year Cy!
