This is is my thirteenth year teaching. I hold a teacher’s certificate from Texas and Arizona (7-12). I have a Bachelors of Science in History and English. I am AVID , TAG, and AP certified. I enjoy teaching because I love watching students be successful. I believe the key to success for every student is a combination of motivation and support from teachers, administrators, parents, and friends. Most importantly, it has been my experience that students who succeed do because they want to. If they have no desire to do what is necessary or expected then they will not be as fruitful in achieving their goals. My main objective for this course is to not only help them be successful academically, but to instill good citizenship and activism. I want them to have the confidence and the necessary tools needed in order to be successful young adults who can make sound judgements when it comes to expressing their points of views whether it be political or social. Hopefully, along the way they will develop a life long love of learning.
It is important that I help them pass this course as well as give them techniques and methods to use to increase their chance of getting the score they want on the AP exam. I realize that most parents are concern that I help their child pass the class and AP exam, but I hope they also value the importance of teaching their child to love the learning process. Parents, students, administrators, and teachers must stand united in order to accomplish this! Since this is an AP course, the expectations will be high, but the rewards of participating in a rigorous course even more gratifying.
